Job summary

IAT Insurance Group is offering an Underwriting Internship in its Management Liability unit with locations in Raleigh, NC or Newark, NJ for the summer of 2027. The internship runs May 24 to July 30, 2027, and features a hybrid schedule with office days Monday through Wednesday and optional remote Thursday and Friday.

This program helps you build a foundation in underwriting, learn from subject matter experts, and complete a capstone project to present to the underwriting team and peers.

Qualifications

• Must be authorized to work in the United States without VISA sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must be able to work out of Raleigh, NC or Newark, NJ offices without housing/relocation assistance.
• Must complete the 10-week internship (May 24—July 30, 2027).
• Rising undergraduate junior or senior.
• Willingness to travel to other IAT offices.
• Willingness to learn financial analysis; analytical thinking; problem solving; strong communication; MS Office; independent work; sales oriented; computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Setting individual goals and working towards achieving those goals throughout the summer.

Job description

IAT Insurance Group has an opening for an Underwriting Internship within our Management Liability Business Unit that can be in our Raleigh, North Carolina or Newark, New Jersey office locations for the summer of 2027. This role is ideal for individuals interested in a long-term career within the insurance industry. This internship will provide you the ability to learn the basics of underwriting while helping to facilitate and improve existing work. This role will not only provide you with exposure to subject matter experts, but also provide you with in-depth knowledge of how a high functioning Underwriting department works. The internship is scheduled to begin on May 24th, 2027 and conclude on July 30th, 2027. Please note, IAT works on a hybrid schedule, working from the office Monday through Wednesday with the option of working remotely Thursday and Friday.
