About the Role

We're seeking an entrepreneurial Management Liability Practice Lead to build and scale a profitable book of business from the ground up as part of our growing Specialty Lines team.

Working closely with our Head of Specialty, you will drive product development, establish wholesale broker relationships, and eventually assemble a team to support future growth. This fully remote role offers total autonomy to leverage your underwriting expertise and industry network while collaborating with internal tech, actuarial, and operations teams to challenge traditional insurance norms. The actual job title can be tailored to your specific experience.

What You'll Do:

  • Proven E&S Underwriter – Demonstrate 10+ years of wholesale E&S management liability experience, managing both primary and excess offerings for long-term portfolio profitability.
  • Player-Coach Leader – Balance desk-level underwriting and broker development with the ability to recruit talent and negotiate reinsurance treaties.
  • Analytical Portfolio Manager – Utilize qualitative data, class-of-business trends, and venue dynamics to drive strategic, risk-differentiated decision-making.
  • Master Communicator – Translate complex insurance concepts into persuasive presentations for both technical and non-technical external stakeholders.
  • MGA & Startup Ready – Thrive in a fast-paced environment where holding an E&S broker's license and having delegated authority experience gives you a head start.
  • Builder Mindset – Bring energy, passion, and a growth-oriented approach to actively shape the future of insurance at Ledgebrook.
  • Team Player in Ambiguity – Wear multiple hats comfortably, navigating hurdles and adapting as part of a collaborative startup environment.
  • Solution-Oriented & Humble – Focus on solving problems rather than assigning blame, owning mistakes while remaining future-focused.
  • High-EQ Collaborator – Connect easily with others through exceptional interpersonal skills and clear communication, both internally and externally.
  • Voracious Learner – Collaborate with partners in Actuarial & Technology to understand pricing methodologies and account analytics to bolster the quality of underwriting decisions.
