Job summary

A healthcare organization in Saint Augustine is seeking a Mammography Tech to operate imaging equipment and perform radiologic exams as ordered by the physician. The role involves ensuring the quality of images, instructing patients, and assisting with procedures. Candidates must have an Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology, preferably with 0-1 year of experience and possess a Radiologic Technologist License in Florida. This position is critical for patient care and safety within the department.

Qualifications

  • Completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA approved school qualifying for registry as an American Registered Radiologic Technologist.
  • 0 - 1 year of mammography or Rad Tech experience required.
  • Radiologic Technologist License in Florida is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiological exams to department standards including technique and positioning.
  • Ensure quality of images presented to the radiologist for interpretation.
  • Instruct patients regarding procedures and provide necessary documentation.
  • Assures safety of patient including pregnancy identification and shielding documentation; reviews safety questionnaire prior to scanning patient. Always uses proper lifting techniques as demonstrated in annual body mechanics in-service.
  • Provides efficient transportation for patients both to and from requesting service areas. Uses wheelchairs, stretchers, beds in an appropriate fashion. Assists patient in and out of wheelchair and stretchers using proper wheel locking procedures. Cleans wheelchairs and stretchers and reports needed repairs to supervisor.
  • Prepares contrast material, verifies physician order, and injects patients for I.V. procedure using proper sterile technique. Uses table pads, sheets, side rails/locks, to assure patient comfort and safety. Accurately utilizes initial side markers. Performs phantom films regularly.
  • Coordinates the selection and use of supplies, minor equipment, X-Rays, reports, and files between departmental units as needed and maintains an efficient workflow.
  • Assists with biopsy localizations, demonstrates responsibility for biopsy specimens, and correlates biopsy report to Mammo report.
  • Speaks to community groups regarding mammography and promotes self-examination. Trains new hires or existing staff as assigned.
  • Collaborates in departmental and hospital wide QA/QI program as requested.

The Mammography Tech operates imaging equipment and performs radiologic exams as ordered by the physician and under the guidance of the physician. Assists in preparing the procedure rooms, as needed. Documents duration of examination and results of tests/examinations in patient's chart.

  • Informs patient about procedure and provides post procedure instructions. Prepares consent forms and other demographic data for patients receiving treatment. Coordinates both in and out patient studies and assures that procedures are billed properly.
