Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform diagnostic and screening mammography in accordance with ACR requirements and NJ state regulations. The role includes quality control, patient documentation, and adherence to safety and imaging standards.

The position requires an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program graduate, ARRT certification, NJ license, and strong communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Must meet requirements for ARRT and pass the examination.
  • NJ state license for Diagnostic Radiology.
  • ARRT certification (M) or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adults, ensuring expedient and professional service.
  • Performs all mammographic imaging procedures as trained.
  • Uses immobilization devices and selects proper technical factors for each patient.
  • Performs bone density procedures as assigned.
  • Documents procedures and ensures correct image labeling and patient identification.

The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing mammography examinations following ACR requirements. This includes screening and diagnostic mammography as well as all Mammographic procedures.

Eligible for a pro-rated sign-on bonus for part time Mammography Technologist positions who accept a job offer on or before October 22, 2026.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Mammography Technologist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult adolescent and geriatric patients in an expedient and professional manner.
  • Performs all mammographic imaging procedures as trained.
  • Provides immobilization devices, selects proper technical factors based on individual patient needs and selects and operates equipment for specific procedures.
  • Performs bone density procedures as assigned.
  • Identifies patient's images with the correct name, MRN number and ensures that images are correctly marked as to the breast side and that all images have technologist's initials.
  • Assists with quality control procedures and documenting of phantom image, repeat analysis, calibration test, Geometry calibration, diagnostic review workstation QC, compression test, visual machine checks, view box calibration test, artifact test, CNR/SNR testing and reviewing condition, as delegated by the leadership.
  • Assists with compiling statistics for patient follow-ups, tracking of breast localizations, biopsy recommendations and follow-up on positive biopsy reports.
  • Documents procedures regarding quality control and quality assurance for mammography in compliance with ACR, MQSA, NJ State and FDA.
  • Ensure proper use of the Faxitron system.
  • Documents in EMR (EPIC)any pertinent information regarding patients.
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.).This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
  • All equipment must be cleaned with hospital disinfectant as per manufacturer instructions recommendations.
  • Understands and verbalizes proper shielding protocol as per institutional policy.
  • Understands and verbalizes image gently and image wisely.
  • Ensures rooms are stocked and kept in an orderly manner.
  • Ensures proper labeling of specimen images.
  • Tracks the location of the patient in Epic during the Breast Center visit.
  • Ensures appropriate procedures are begun and ended in a timely manner.
  • Recognize equipment technical errors and initiate corrective action.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Must be able to meet the requirements for the National Registry (ARRT) and pass the examination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Licenses And Certifications Required
  • NJ state license for Diagnostic Radiology (D.R.)
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT,M)
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 60 days of entering position
