Job summary

Adventist Health Sierra Vista is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform specialized breast examinations and operate mammography equipment. The role requires coordinating with Radiologists to complete intricate imaging procedures and ensuring high-quality documentation and patient care.

The position expects an Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology, ARRT certifications, and a commitment to safety and privacy. BLS is required; CA preferences for additional licenses and fluoro may apply.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology required.
• ARRT Radiography required; ARRT Mammography required (CA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Fluoroscopy license preferred in CA.
• Venipuncture certification preferred in CA.

Responsibilities

• Completes patient education regarding the exam while promoting privacy and comfort for the patient.
• Performs diagnostic or screening mammograms as ordered; assists Radiologist in complex exams and biopsies; ensures high-quality films and proper documentation.
• Obtains pertinent patient information and distributes preparation instructions to patient care areas.
• Escalates questions, problems and significant challenges to more senior staff as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Performs specialized examinations of the breast to help in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. Performs all required procedures in the department while operating specialized equipment. Acts as a competent clinician who provides clinical care in a skilled and effective manner, utilizing appropriate technical and decision-making skills.

Education and Work Experience

• Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology: Required
• Experience as a Mammography Technologist: Preferred

Licenses / Certifications

• Radiologic Tech (RT) and Mammography Technologist: Required in CA
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists â€" Radiography (ARRT-R): Required
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists â€" Mammography (ARRT-M): Required in OR, Preferred in CA and HI
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Fluoroscopy license: Preferred in CA
• Venipuncture certification: Preferred in CA

Facility Specific License / Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Mammographic Radiologic Technology (MRT): Required

Essential Functions

• Completes patient education regarding the exam while promoting privacy and comfort for the patient. Follows infection control and safety guidelines.
• Performs diagnostic or screening mammogram as ordered. Prepares for and assists the Radiologist in the completion of intricate mammography examinations, including breast biopsies. Produces high quality films for the radiologist to evaluate and completes appropriate documentation.
• Obtains pertinent patient information and disseminates subsequent patient preparation instructions to patient care areas.
• Elevates questions, problems and significant challenges to more senior staff for direction or subject matter expertise.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
