Job summary

Adventist Health Sierra Vista in Morro Bay, CA is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform breast imaging, assist radiologists, and ensure patient comfort. You will produce high-quality mammograms and handle the related documentation.

Requires ARRT radiography and mammography credentials in CA, BLS, and an Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology. Prior mammography experience is preferred; may provide patient education and support in a busy imaging department, with attention to radiation

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology is required.
• Radiologic Technologist license and Mammography certification required in CA.
• ARRT-R (Radiography) and ARRT-M (Mammography) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Mammography/Fluoroscopy licenses preferred in CA; other CA-specific licenses may be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Completes patient education regarding the exam while promoting privacy and comfort for the patient.
• Performs diagnostic or screening mammogram as ordered and assists Radiologist in intricate examinations including breast biopsies.
• Produces high quality films for radiologist evaluation and completes documentation.
• Obtains pertinent patient information and disseminates preparation instructions to care areas.
• Elevates questions or issues to senior staff for direction; performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Performs specialized examinations of the breast to help in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. Performs all required procedures in the department while operating specialized equipment. Acts as a competent clinician who provides clinical care in a skilled and effective manner, utilizing appropriate technical and decision‑making skills.

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience

• Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology: Required
• Experience as a Mammography Technologist: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Radiologic Tech (RT) and Mammography Technologist: Required in CA
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists â€" Radiography (ARRT-R): Required
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists â€" Mammography (ARRT-M): Required in OR, Preferred in CA and HI
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Fluoroscopy license: Preferred in CA
• Venipuncture certification: Preferred in CA

Facility Specific License/Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Mammographic Radiologic Technology (MRT): Required

Essential Functions

• Completes patient education regarding the exam while promoting privacy and comfort for the patient. Follows infection control and safety guidelines.
• Performs diagnostic or screening mammogram as ordered. Prepares for and assists the Radiologist in the completion of intricate mammography examinations, including breast biopsies. Produces high quality films for the radiologist to evaluate and completes appropriate documentation.
• Obtains pertinent patient information and disseminates subsequent patient preparation instructions to patient care areas.
• Elevates questions, problems and significant challenges to more senior staff for direction or subject matter expertise.
• Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
