A leading healthcare provider seeks an X-ray Technician to operate imaging equipment and assist physicians. The successful candidate will have relevant certifications and experience, while ensuring high standards of patient care and safety. This role is essential in providing diagnostic services at our state-of-the-art facilities in New Jersey.
Job Description
Responsible for operating X-ray equipment that produces radiographs designated areas of the body for diagnostic purposes. Assists physicians in performing the imaging procedures, reviews and correlates patients' previous reports, and acts as a point of contact for various medical departments. Ensures proper documentation during the exam as required. Performs specimen imaging when necessary and ensures that the specimens are sent to pathology with proper labeling.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Positions patient on examining table and changes immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
2. Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
3. Moves x-ray equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance basis knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
4. Practices radiation protection techniques using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
5. Operates mobile x-ray equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
6. Specializes in production of screening and diagnostic x-rays for detection of breast tumors.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required:
1. High school Diploma or GED.
2. Certificate from an accredited School or Radiography
3. State RT license.
4. ARRT Mammography Certification.
5. CPR Certified.
Preferred:
1. Minimum of 200 mammography exams performed within past 24 months.
2. Certifications like ARDMS, BLS, RHM, CRT.
3. Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as a staff technologist in Mammography or relevant area preferred.
