Overview

DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital in Oakland County is dedicated to outstanding customer service and medical care. The hospital features the Harris Birthing Center with private birthing suites, the Charach Cancer Treatment Center (affiliated with the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center), cardiac services, and comprehensive inpatient and outpatient diagnostic care. Job Summary

Under general supervision and following established policies and procedures, performs diagnostic mammographic exams using appropriate imaging equipment. Responsibilities include verifying patient identity, reviewing medical records for exam appropriateness, interviewing patients to obtain or update medical history, assessing risk factors such as medications or pregnancy, explaining procedures including potential side effects, and acquiring images as per script. The technologist reviews images, makes initial observations, documents protocol deviations, communicates findings to the radiologist, and recognizes/responds to medical emergencies. They provide post-care instructions, participate in quality improvement activities, and may educate residents, students, and new staff. Availability for call/standby duties and performing radiologic technologist duties as needed are also required.

Qualifications

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Mammography (M).
  • Successful completion of American Heart Association (AHA) BLS training by end of orientation.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to instruct and comfort patients under stress.
