Job summary

Meritus Health is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform diagnostic procedures using advanced imaging technologies. This as-needed position involves varied shifts from Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays, contributing to patient care within the breast health team. Responsibilities include operating equipment, preparing patients, and documenting clinical information, all while upholding the values of compassion, excellence, and integrity. Minimum qualifications include an Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology and ARRT certification in both Radiography and Mammography.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 18 months experience as a Radiologic Technologist required.
  • ARRT certification in Radiography and Mammography required.
  • State of Maryland licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required.
  • Current BLS (CPR) certification in compliance with Meritus Health policy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiographic mammography procedures per physician orders.
  • Operate and maintain digital mammography and tomosynthesis equipment.
  • Prepare exam rooms and ensure cleanliness.
  • Obtain and document clinical information from patients.
  • Prepare patients for exams and explain procedures clearly.
  • Observe patients during procedures and report unusual occurrences.
  • Record pertinent patient information in QA logs and electronic systems.
  • Serve as a resource to peers in learning and quality improvement.
  • Uphold Meritus Health’s values in every interaction.

Overview

Mammo Technologist | Outpatient

As Needed | Varied shifts between the hours of 7:00a – 5:30p, Monday to Friday; Occasional Saturday 7:30a – 11:30a

As a Mammography Technologist, you’ll perform diagnostic mammography procedures using advanced imaging technologies, including digital mammography and tomosynthesis. You’ll be a vital part of our breast health team, ensuring patients feel informed, supported, and safe throughout their imaging experience. This role combines technical expertise with interpersonal sensitivity, helping patients navigate a potentially stressful moment with confidence and dignity. You’ll contribute to quality assurance, maintain equipment and exam rooms, and serve as a resource to fellow technologists—all while upholding Meritus Health’s mission to improve the health of our community.

Responsibilities
  • Perform radiographic mammography procedures in accordance with physician orders and established protocols
  • Operate and maintain digital mammography and tomosynthesis equipment with competence and care
  • Prepare exam rooms, organize supplies, and ensure cleanliness and readiness
  • Obtain and document clinical information from patients accurately and respectfully
  • Prepare patients for exams, explain procedures clearly, and assist other staff members as needed
  • Observe patients and equipment during procedures, reporting any unusual occurrences immediately
  • Record pertinent patient information in QA logs, electronic systems, and reports
  • Serve as a resource to peers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and quality improvement

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Completion of an Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent required

Experience

  • Minimum of 18 months experience as a Radiologic Technologist required

Licensure/Certification

  • ARRT certification in Radiography and Mammography required
  • State of Maryland licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required
  • Current BLS (CPR) certification in compliance with Meritus Health policy
