Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a 2-year Radiologic Technology Program from an accredited school.
• Current Florida State License (CRT).
• ARRT registry and Mammography (M) registry valid.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Verifies prescription and records exam reasons, signs, and symptoms.
• Explains procedures to reduce patient anxiety and gain cooperation.
• Positions patient and immobilization devices for optimal views.
• Sets exposure factors and moves equipment to proper positions.
• Processes digital images, checks technical quality and diagnostic acceptability.
• Verifies exam against ordered study in PACS and updates billing codes as needed.
• Present prior studies to radiologist for comparison.
• Practices radiation protection to minimize exposure.
• Stockes supplies, checks machine, and performs QC as needed.

Description

Summary:

Under the direction of a Radiologist, Facility Manager performs mammography procedures according to protocols established according to the ACR and FDA, at a technical level requiring supervision of technical detail. Performs screening and diagnostic procedures using either 2D or 3D technical radiographic procedures that will require judgement and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated area or procedures as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Verifies that the prescription matches the procedure that is going to be performed and records all reasons for the exam including all signs and symptoms.
• Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
• Positions patient and adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
• Moves mammography equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance.
• Processes radiologic digital images and examines for technical quality and diagnostic acceptability.
• Verify that the patient’s exam corresponds to the ordered exam in PACS. Make changes in billing codes/exam titles as needed.
• Make sure to present any prior studies along with current studies to radiologist for diagnostic assessment.
• Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
• Stock/Order supplies, check machine for any problems, perform equipment QC when needed.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Graduate of a 2-year Radiologic Technology Program from an accredited school.
