Job summary

A healthcare provider is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform screening and diagnostic procedures. Ideal candidates will have an Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology, at least one year of experience, and must be ARRT(M) certified or eligible. Qualifications

• Minimum one (1) year Mammography experience is preferred.

• Basic Life Support certified within 30 days of hire, recertification every two years.

Must demonstrate an understanding of breast anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Must maintain accuracy in breast positioning, exposure techniques, and image evaluation while adhering to radiation protection and safety standards. Must understand the federal regulations governing mammography practice to meet the standards for the performance of breast imaging. Must have knowledge of the quality assurance policies and quality control testing for mammography within federal regulation guidelines. **What you will do*** Review orders prior to day of procedure to ensure accuracy and to avoid delay in patient care, and maintain, generate, and keep organized documentation for all upcoming biopsies and localizations.* Provide excellent patient care by educating and preparing patients for their procedure while utilizing effective communication.* Obtain and document accurate patient medical history to assist radiologist’s interpretation.* Ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of their procedure by positioning and instructing patient while utilizing protective shielding, immobilization, and supportive devices as required.* Perform and complete procedures as required by physician’s order in hospital information system.* Perform screening and diagnostic mammograms. May also perform wire and wire-free localizations, stereotactic breast biopsies, and Dexa imaging at applicable locations.* Cleaning and maintaining all imaging equipment; selecting proper exposure factors of radiographic equipment for each examination.* Perform daily and weekly Quality Control tests on radiologist’s workstation, mammography machine, and Stereotactic equipment.* Request, upload, and prepare patients outside mammograms when necessary for comparison of the Radiologist’s dictation.* Imaging technologists are required to cover all outpatient and hospital locations as necessary and appropriate and may also assist with mentoring and/or training students, new hires. **Education Qualifications*** Associate's Degree from a Radiologic Technology program. Required **Experience Qualifications*** Minimum one (1) year Mammography experience. Preferred **Skills and Abilities*** Understand and utilize ALARA concepts and critical thinking* Positioning* Time management* Effective communication **Licenses and Certifications*** Mammography - American Registry Radiologic Technologist ARRT(M) certified or registry eligible (If eligible, must become ARRT(M) certified within 24 months of hire or transfer date). Required* Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two years is Required* South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association certified.
