Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s Independence Family Health Center seeks a Mammography Technologist to operate mammography equipment under physician direction. This role includes educating patients and ensuring safety for high-quality diagnostic images.

The ideal candidate will have a degree from an AMA-approved school, certification in Mammography, and BLS certification. Work varies between morning and evening shifts, with occasional Saturday shifts.

Qualifications

  • Registered Technologist credentialed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (RT(R) – ARRT) in good standing.
  • Current state licensure required prior to employment.
  • Completion of 40 hours of mammography training.

Job description

Cleveland Clinic’s Independence Family Health Center is a community‑based primary care facility that offers a range of diagnostic services. As a Mammography Technologist, you will operate mammography equipment under physician direction, educate patients, and ensure safety and image quality for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities
  • Operate a mammography unit to produce high‑quality diagnostic images.
  • Explain procedures to patients and correctly position and immobilize patients’ breasts.
  • Monitor the video display during scanning, adjusting density or contrast to improve picture quality.
  • Review processed images or film to determine if images are satisfactory or if additional images are needed.
  • Use radiation safety measures and protective devices in compliance with regulations.
  • Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images via CAD and PACS.
  • Complete after‑hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
  • Report malfunctions to the help desk and PACS Administrator.
  • Process billing through RIS.
  • Assist with policies and procedures required by local, state, and federal law, and supporting compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.).
  • Assist with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality‑assurance requirements.
  • Perform equipment checks to assure proper function and notify clinical engineering of any malfunctions.
  • Ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies.
  • Provide teaching and mentoring to new hires and students.
  • Continuously learn new technical information and skills through periodic in‑service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
  • Rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations.
Shift Schedule

Work varying shifts: 8:00 am–4:30 pm or 10:30 am–7:00 pm. Rotations include evening and Saturday shifts; evenings occur once or twice a week until 7:30 pm, and Saturday shifts occur every 3rd or 4th Saturday.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an AMA‑approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (RT(R) – ARRT) in good standing.
  • Certification in Mammography (RT(R)(M) – ARRT).
  • Current state licensure (RL) required prior to employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.
  • Completion of 40 hours of mammography training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of experience as a general radiologic technologist.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
Personal Protective Equipment
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $33.50
Maximum hourly: $48.50
