Job description

Overview

Mammography Technologists on this team play an important role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while creating a supportive and compassionate experience for patients throughout their visit. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on clinical excellence, patient safety, and exceptional imaging quality.

The ideal caregiver is someone who helps patients feel comfortable and supported while contributing to a positive experience during an important preventive and diagnostic service.

Responsibilities

• Review mammography requisition and computer exam forms to determine the type of exam required.
• Accurately position patients, determine the exposure factors, and operate mammography equipment according to established procedures to obtain a high-quality image.
• Review processed images to determine quality and the need for additional images.
• Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and the exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
• Ensure patients\' safety and comfort during and after the exam.
• Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images via CAD and PACS.
• Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
• Report any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
• Process billing via RIS.
• Assist with all policies and procedures required by local, state, and federal law, and with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.).
• Assist with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements.
• Perform equipment checks to assure proper function of and notify clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions.
• Ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies.
• Provide teaching and mentoring to new hires and students.
• Strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
• Rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of Radiologic Technology
• Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing
• Certification in Mammography: R.T.(R) (M) (ARRT)
• Current state licensure (RL) required prior to employment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
• Successful completion of 40 hours of mammography training

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist

Physical Requirements

• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $33.50
Maximum hourly: $48.50
