Job summary

Qualifications

• ARRT approved Radiologic Technology Program completed.
• ARRT certification or registry eligible in mammography; maintain 24 continuing education credits per biennium.
• BLS certification required within three months of hire.
• One year of experience as a Registered Radiographer; registry eligible in mammography.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and perform push/pull tasks up to 35 lbs.
• Preferred: BS degree.
• Preferred: ARRT certification in mammography; 15 CE credits per three years in Mammography.
• Preferred: One year of mammography experience including 3D mammography.

Responsibilities

• Performs and records the results of quality assurance and quality control procedures.
• Assist Radiologist with biopsies and needle localizations.
• Determine whether a mammogram is a screening or diagnostic study.
• Performs mammography examinations and educates patients on hospital services and treatments.
• Acquires patient history and explains exam and procedures, ensuring understanding by patient and family.
• Monitors safety and comfort of patient throughout the exam.

What The Mammography Technologist Will Do

• Performs and records the results of quality assurance and quality control procedures.
• Mammography Technologists trained in breast ultrasound and stereo and guided core needle biopsies assist the Radiologist with biopsies and needle localizations.
• Determines whether a mammogram is screening or diagnostic study.
• Performs mammography examinations and patient education on Hospital services and treatments.
• Acquires patient history & explains exam and procedures, assuring that patient and/or family understand scope of exam.
• Monitors safety and comfort of patient through the exam.

What The Mammography Technologist Will Need

• Completion of American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) approved Radiologic Technology Program.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification; registry eligible in mammography. Must maintain 24 continuing education credits per biennium to maintain registry status.
• Certification or recertification in Basic Life support (BLS) within three months of hire.
• One year of experience as a Registered Radiographer. Registry eligible in mammography.
• Ability to lift up to a maximum of 35lbs. and perform push/pull tasks that require a maximum force of 35 lbs.
• Preferred: Bachelors of Science degree (BS)
• Preferred: American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification in mammography. Must maintain 15 continuing education credits per three years in Mammography to maintain registry.
• Preferred: One year of mammography experience including 3D mammography.
