Job summary

Intermountain Health is hiring a Mammography Technologist to perform screening and diagnostic mammography with advanced procedures at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, CO. You will work with radiologists to produce high-quality images and ensure patient comfort and safety.

The role requires ARRT Radiologic Technologist certification and BLS; preferred candidates may have ARRT Mammography or cross-training in mammography. Part-time schedule, 30 hours weekly, with the PEAK education program support.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Licenses/Certifications: ARRT Rad Tech license (if applicable) and BLS.
  • Preferred: ARRT Mammography or cross-training.

Job description

As a Mammography Technologist, you will be responsible for performing screening and diagnostic mammography exams on patients using specialized equipment. You will work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and high‑quality imaging results. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of imaging techniques, excellent patient care skills, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.

Hourly range for this position is listed below: $35.60 – $54.93. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

Essential Functions
  • Maintains American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or modality‑specific competency in all clinical and technical functions
  • Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam
  • Performs radiologic mammography exams per department protocol including advanced Mammography procedures like stereotactic biopsies, clip placements, drainages, etc.
  • Demonstrates positioning competency.
  • Operates the mammographic equipment to ensure that diagnostic images of high quality are produced.
  • Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment.
  • Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses concerns.
  • Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.
  • Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation, record patient information, procedures performed and any adverse reactions.
  • Follows protocols, coding, charging, consents, QC programs, and reporting equipment failures.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Graduate of an accredited program of Radiologic Technology
  • Licenses and Certifications American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Rad Tech license in state of practice (if applicable).
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licenses and Certifications ARRT Mammography or currently attending and receiving formal training to cross‑train in mammography
Experience
  • Experience Experience in Imaging (preferred)
  • Experience in Mammography (preferred)
Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
  • Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for a long time.
