Pay Rate*: $51.50/hr

Position Summary

The Mammography Technologist coordinates mammography and diagnostic procedures as assigned by the department. They serve as the first point of contact with patients and are responsible for fulfilling their imaging needs. The technologist operates specialized imaging equipment, including angiography, CT, breast ultrasonography, and mammography, at proficiency levels that do not require constant supervision. Under the radiologist's direction, performs duties involving various technical procedures applying ionizing radiation.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Evaluate and attend to patient's physical and emotional needs before, during, and after exams to ensure proper patient care and a positive examination experience; identify appropriate tests to be performed.
2. Produce quality radiographs efficiently to provide accurate and useful medical information to radiologists and physicians.
3. Communicate effectively with other departments, Medical Center staff, physicians' offices, and patients' families to ensure proper guest relations.
4. Utilize R.I.S. and related systems to contribute to automated patient care goals.
5. Provide additional information on x-ray requests to assist radiologists in dictating findings.
6. Prepare equipment and exam areas, maintain cleanliness, and assist during sterile procedures, exhibiting knowledge of sterile techniques and protocols.
7. Participate in patient flow management to ensure timely and efficient service.
8. Assist in training radiologic technologist students and new personnel to ensure quality education and orientation.
9. Maintain accurate records and perform clerical duties in compliance with Joint Commission standards and billing procedures.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
