Job summary

The Mammography Technologist at Wellstar Health System in Georgia performs screening and diagnostic breast and bone density exams under the supervision of a Radiologist, providing physicians with accurate data for diagnosis and ensuring patient comfort and safety.

This full-time role requires ARRT Mammography and Radiography, BLS certification, an accredited Radiologic Technology program, and a minimum of 2 years in Diagnostic Radiography with breast imaging preferred.

Qualifications

• Accredited Radiologic Technology program completed.
• Minimum 2 years Diagnostic Radiography/X-Ray experience.
• 1 year Breast imaging experience preferred.
• ARRT Mammography and Radiography certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in Breast and Bone Density Imaging while adhering to department protocol and ALARA.
• Performs Breast and Bone Density imaging exams.
• Evaluates images for technical quality.
• Post processes data and ensures patient identification.
• Provides patient-centered care and maintains safety standards.
• Assists Radiologist with procedures and protocols.

Job Summary:

The Mammography Technologist performs screening and diagnostic breast and bone density exams and procedures onpatients of all ages to provide physicians with data for diagnostic purposes. The Mammography Technologist worksunder the direction of a Radiologist and/or Manager.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Demonstrates sound knowledge in the performance of Breast and Bone Density Imaging while adhering todepartment protocol and standards and applies the principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patients,self and others.
• Performs a variety of exams including Breast and Bone Density imaging.
• Evaluates images for technicalquality.
• Performs post processing of data and ensures proper patient identification is recorded.
• Provides optimal patient care and assumes responsibility for the patient's needs during their proceduresand exemplifies the philosophy of Patient Family Centered care to all.
• Applies the principles of patient safety during all aspects of patient care.
• Identifies and responds toemergency situations in an appropriate manner.
• Strictly adheres to the principles of aseptic technique andhand washing policies.
• Assists the Radiologist with procedures and protocols.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

• Accredited Program Radiologic Technology

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

• All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
• BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - InstructorARRT-M - ARRT MammographyARRT-R - ARRT Radiography

Required Minimum Experience:

• Minimum 2 years Diagnostic Radiography/X-Ray.
• Required orMinimum 1 year Breast imaging Preferred

Required Minimum Skills:

• Ability to operate Radiographic equipment
• Ability to communicate verbally and written
• Possess excellent patient/customer service skills
• Operate Breast Imaging Unit- Preferred
• Knowledge of Mammography positioning techniques-Preferred
