Job summary

Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas seeks a Radiologic Technologist specialized in mammography to join our breast imaging team. You will perform screening and diagnostic mammography and bone density exams, supporting our breast program's genetic testing workflow.

Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program; ARRT and Texas license within required timelines; BLS and Mammography ARRT certifications. A collaborative, patient-centered environment awaits.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT certification within 90 days and Texas license.
  • BLS certification within 90 days; Mammography ARRT within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Perform screening and diagnostic mammography per MQSA and facility protocols.
  • Conduct bone density (DEXA) scans and prepare exam data for interpretation.
  • Support breast program genetic testing workflows and documentation.
  • Ensure accurate charting, exam documentation, and order verification in the EHR.
  • Maintain safety, infection control, and QC checks; manage supplies as needed.
  • Educate patients on breast health and assist radiologic students.

Summary/Objective

This role performs high-quality screening and diagnostic mammography and bone density examinations while supporting our breast program’s genetic testing process. May also perform breast needle localization procedures, stereotactic breast biopsy procedures as well as galactogram procedures. The position contributes to early detection, patient education, safety, and a positive care experience. The technologist works closely with radiologists, providers, and breast navigation to ensure seamless patient flow and accurate clinical documentation.

  • Perform screening and diagnostic mammography exams following MQSA, ACR, and facility protocols while ensuring proper positioning, compression, image quality, and patient comfort.
  • Conduct bone density (DEXA) scans, verify patient history, maintain calibration/quality records, and prepare exam data for interpretation.
  • Support breast program genetic testing workflows by identifying eligible patients, providing basic education, completing required documentation, and coordinating sample handling and routing.
  • Ensure accurate charting, exam documentation, and order verification in the electronic health record to support regulatory compliance and timely reporting.
  • Maintain safety, infection control, and equipment quality standards, including routine QC checks and participation in accreditation-related requirements. Maintains inventory and orders supplies as necessary and appropriate.

Deliver compassionate, patient-centered service by communicating clearly, reducing anxiety, and collaborating with radiologists, breast navigation, and clinical teams to support seamless patient flow. Educates patients on Breast Self-Examinations and participates in the clinical oversight of radiologic students.

Required Education and Experience

Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology

Required License/Certifications
  • Current certification with American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) within 90 days
  • Must be licensed by the Texas Medical Board (TMB)
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) within 90 days
  • Mammography certification with American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) within 1 year
