Job summary

Winona Health is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform all required mammography procedures, including breast localizations and stereotactic biopsies, and to support Radiology with general X-ray, fluoroscopy, and surgery as needed. This 0.8 FTE position offers a schedule Monday–Friday typically 6:30 am–5:00 pm with every third weekend 7 am–3 pm, plus two holidays.

Starting pay between $31.88–$39.85 per hour, DOE, experience-based; eligible for Minnesota MQSA and ARRT certification

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Radiography from an accredited program.
  • ARRT certified in Radiography; Mammography registry eligible with certification within 18 months of employment.
  • BLS certification.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

Mammography Technologist
0.8 FTE, 64 hours per pay period
Hours typically scheduled Monday through Friday between 6 am and 5 pm
Every third weekend rotation working in Radiology between the hours of 7 am and 3 pm
Two holidays per year
*Starting pay between $31.88 - $39.85 per hour, based on experience

Position Overview:

Performs all requested mammography procedures including breast localizations and stereotactic breast biopsies. This position performs ancillary duties, patient care functions, andprocedures as required by the Minnesota Department of Health and the FDA MQSA. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria for adult and geriatric patients. This position will also serve as a Radiologic Technologist in general X-ray, fluoroscopy, and surgery as assigned to meet patient care and departmental needs.   • Identifies and reviews each patient’s mammography requisition for accuracy of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information.
  • Demonstrates courteous behavior through polite and respectful communication with patients and co-workers.
  • Performs all required mammography examinations properly positioning the patient and equipment. Assesses patient condition, ensures patient safety and comfort. Selects the correct procedure and radiographic technique.
  • Reviews each examination for technical accuracy.
  • Presents completed examination to Radiologist and communicates pertinent data on a need to know basis.
  • Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper film identification on all images.
  • Complies with organization and department mandatory training and assist with the orientation and training of new employees and students.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety and environmental/infection control standards.
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings and completes mandatory educational requirements.
  • Understands, supports, and integrates into one’s position the organization’s mission/vision/values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • Associate’s degree in a related field of study and graduate of an accredited radiography program.
  • ARRT certified in Radiography and Mammography registry eligible with certification obtained within 18 months of employment.
  • BLS certification.
  • Basic computer skills.

Preferred:

  • One year prior mammography experience.

Required Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, hours varying from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm in Mammography and Radiology. Every third weekend rotation from 7 am to 3 pm in Radiology. Two holidays per year, typically one summer and one winter holiday.
