USGP in Portsmouth, VA seeks a Radiologic Mammography Technologist to perform routine and complex breast imaging, including digital and stereotactic procedures. You will manage patient flow in a federal facility, ensure image quality, and coordinate with radiologists using PACS and hospital systems.

The role requires ARRT Mammography certification, an ARRT accredited program, BLS, and at least 12 months of recent diagnostic mammography experience with digital imaging.

Qualifications

• ARRT‑accredited radiologic technology program.
• ARRT in Mammography certification.
• Minimum 12 months’ diagnostic Mammography experience within the last 24 months, including digital imaging.
• ARRT‑M registry membership.
• BLS certification required.

Responsabilités

• Perform routine and complex mammography examinations using digital or analog equipment, including stereotactic imaging and basic ultrasound procedures of the breast.
• Log patient arrivals and departures in the hospital information system, MHS Genesis, MRS and scanner logbooks; send image series to radiologist via PACS.
• Explain procedures to patients, provide compassionate care, correctly position patients, and determine any special preparation required.
• Identify abnormalities or variants; determine need for additional views and recognize changes from prior surgeries or treatments.
• Evaluate image quality and ensure proper patient identification is recorded; correlate history with the requested exam.
• Consult with staff physicians regarding medical history and preliminary diagnosis to ensure accurate examination.
• Maintain and clean mammography equipment per department procedures; perform daily quality control tasks per AC R and manufacturer instructions.
• Initiate repair procedures for equipment malfunctions with designated personnel; document issues in logbooks.
• Differentiate artifacts from pathology and adjust exam parameters per established protocols.
• Observe for adverse reactions to contrast media and communicate any clinical concerns to radiologist; be prepared to initiate emergency measures if needed.
• Stock and maintain adequate supplies for mammography examinations.
