Job Description

Purpose of Position: Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures and mammography exams, conduct quality control, and ensure safety and compliance with departmental and DOH policies.

Areas of Responsibilities:

  1. Attend and comply with all departmental meetings, staff in-service, and training sessions.
  2. Provide services professionally while maintaining good relationships with staff and patients.
  3. Assist and prepare patients for examinations, including gown changes and positioning.
  4. Verify patient identity and exam order for accuracy.
  5. Perform examinations according to departmental and DOH policies.
  6. Ensure patient safety at all times and report risks.
  7. Conduct quality control measures to ensure optimal exam quality and safety.
  8. Maintain examination rooms in a clean and stocked condition.
  9. Follow infection control protocols.
  10. Accurately document patient demographics and exam details.
  11. Provide radiation protection for patients, staff, and self according to safety standards.
  12. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA.
  13. Report discrepancies and issues to radiologists and department heads.
  14. Utilize departmental communication systems appropriately.
  15. Archive examinations promptly and accurately.
  16. Notify the department of lateness or absence before scheduled shifts.
  17. Maintain customer service standards as per network policies.
  18. Perform mammography exams and maintain quality control as per DOH and MQSA standards.
  19. Perform DEXA scans as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • For supervisory roles: Valid NYSDOH license and registration as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, with at least 2 years of related experience, including 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • For specialized imaging: Valid NYSDOH license and registration, with current advanced-level certification for specific procedures.

Department Preferences:

  • Associate Science (Radiology) or hospital-based training certificate.
  • Certified Mammographer ARRT certification.
  • Experience operating X-ray, mammography, and DEXA units.

All Technologists at levels II and III will receive a $7,500 annual differential for cross-training across modalities and flexible assignments based on patient volume and staffing needs.
