Job summary

UPMC is seeking a dedicated Mammographer to perform high-quality mammography examinations with precise patient positioning across multiple locations. You will educate patients, document findings, and support radiologists with interventional breast imaging, while adhering to safety standards and imaging protocols.

The role requires traveling to off-site locations and involves positioning, comfort, and patient-centered care for women\'s health imaging.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality mammography examinations, including specialized views and precise patient positioning to ensure optimal diagnostic imaging.
  • Prepare and educate patients throughout the exam process, promoting comfort, safety, and a positive patient experience.
  • Conduct breast assessments and document pertinent clinical findings, including scars, moles, and other relevant observations.
  • Provide breast self-examination education and reinforce the importance of routine clinical breast health screenings.
  • Verify patient identity, review medical history and physician orders, and follow established imaging protocols.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, coding, charge capture, and image archiving within RIS and PACS systems.
  • Assist radiologists with breast imaging procedures, including biopsies, wire localizations, ductograms, and other interventional exams.
  • Follow radiation and radioactive material safety standards while maintaining compliance with departmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform equipment quality control testing and evaluate results to ensure imaging systems meet performance standards.
  • Administer contrast media, perform venipuncture, and operate power injectors when required, following physician orders and departmental policies.

Schedule: This position work 8-hour shifts, Monday-Saturday. The shift start times will vary from as early as 6AM and ending as late as 6PM. This position will require traveling (around 30% of the time) to different off-site locations.
