Job summary

Riverside Health System in Newport News, VA seeks a Mammographer to perform mammography exams, prepare patients, and document procedures per policy. The role supports only daytime hours with weekends rotating, at the Riverside Oyster Point Diagnostic Center.

You will work under RHS policies, ensuring ALARA safety, regulatory compliance, and high-quality imaging while coordinating patient care and maintaining supplies.

Qualifications

• Mammography experience preferred.
• ARRT Radiology (R) certification required upon hire.
• ARRT Mammography (M) certification within 2 years.
• CPR/BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Produces quality images following appropriate protocols and procedures.
• Provides clinical documentation per scope of practice.

Job description

Newport News, Virginia Hiring Range $32.50 - $44.73/Hourly. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

***This for a full-time, 40 hours a week, benefited position at our Riverside Oyster Point Diagnostic Center in Newport News, Virginia. Daytime hours, Monday to Saturday (Saturday's rotating), no holidays, evenings, Sunday's or call.

Overview

The Mammographer in a diagnostic center setting is responsible for performing mammography exams on patients as requested by the referring physicians. Performs all mammography exams and procedures in accordance with RHS policy and procedures. Performs patient preparation and explanation of exams, responds to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process, and completes all associated patient and equipment screening and technical documentation.

• Performs with a high degree of safety and quality and prevents or reduces harms through knowledge and application of policies, procedures, protocols using safety behaviors.
• Responsible for the preparation of equipment, instrumentation, and departmental supplies required to support quality patient care.
• Follows ALARA principles according to policy.
• Understands and adheres to all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards.
• Reports variances.
• Coordinates patient care and performs effective assessment, actions, and documentation.
• Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.
• Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements.
• Troubleshoots and ensures equipment functionality.
• Detail oriented ability to multi-task organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Experience Mammography experience (Preferred) Licenses and Certifications Radiologic Technologists - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Radiology (R) Upon Hire(Required) and Radiologic Technologists - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Mammography (M) within 2 Years(Required) and CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
