Job summary

Premier Health’s Springboro Medical Imaging is seeking a Mammography Technologist to independently perform mammographic procedures and manage patient flow in the MVH facility. You will ensure high-quality images, coordinate patient care, and support the radiology team, with emphasis on safety and accuracy.

Required education is an Associate degree in Radiologic Technology with mammography training; ARRT registrations and ODH licensure are required within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Radiologic Technology with mammography coursework completed.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• ARRT RT (R) registry required; RT (M) registry within 12 months.
• ODH licensure required.
• One year mammography experience preferred; not mandatory.
• Knowledge of radiology safety and QA/QC procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic-quality mammographic procedures as ordered and evaluates image quality.
• Obtains clinical history for correlation with the study.
• Implements screening and safety policies; performs QC as required.
• Practices sterile technique during biopsy procedures.
• Assists Radiologist in special procedures and emergencies.
• Coordinates patient care to optimize time and satisfaction.
• Educates patients about procedures and procedures’ rationale.
• Maintains records, verifies orders, and assists with clerical tasks.
• Keeps knowledge of emergency equipment locations and operation.

Title: Mammography Technologist

Unit: Springboro Medical Imaging

Hours: 7:30a-4p

Status: PRN

Facility: MVH

Position Summary:

Independently performs all mammographic procedures utilizing proper techniques and administration of contrast media. Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with certificate/licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. Coordinates patient flow and the activities in the mammography department. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of duties in order to maintain equipment in good working condition. May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs.

Essential Duties & Functions:

• Performs mammographic procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluates images for technical quality.


• Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the mammography procedure.


• Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed mammography policies / procedures. Performs daily and weekly QC as required.


• Practices sterile techniques during biopsy procedures.


• Assists Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.


• Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfaction.


• Assess learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Thoroughly educates patients about exam.


• Ensures that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required, performs clerical duties when necessary, verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure.


• Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.


• Follows radiation safety policies and procedures.

Education:

• Minimum Level of Education Required: Associate degree

• Area of study or major: Radiologic Technology. Completed all mammography courses required for registry

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

• BLS Certification required within 30 days of hire


• ARRT RT (R) registry required


• ARRT RT (M) registry required within 12 months

Experience:

• Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience


• Preferred experience: One year experience or additional training in specialized field of Mammography
