Job summary

Methodist Hospital Hill Country is seeking a Mammo Tech PRN to perform mammography and assist with breast imaging procedures. The role requires ARRT (M) certification and Texas Radiologic Technologist certification, with strong patient care and teamwork.

You will participate in scheduling, documentation, and coordinating with clinicians in a hospital setting. The position emphasizes adherence to MQSA and Texas state regulations, ongoing competency training, and commitment to quality patient

Qualifications

  • Education: Radiologic Technology certificate or AS in Radiologic Technology.
  • Experience: none required.
  • Preferred: prior hospital experience.

Responsibilities

  • Position and obtain views for mammography and related breast procedures.
  • Use the computer system for scheduling, tracking, and charges.
  • Work independently and with a team, communicate professionally with staff and patients.
  • Complete patient paperwork before/after exams and ensure proper filing.
  • Assess situations, consider options, and choose appropriate actions.
  • Coordinate tests with surgeon, radiologist, attending physician.

Job Summary and Qualifications
General Statement of Duties:

The Mammography Technologist is responsible for the performance of mammography and/or assisting with other related radiographic breast procedures (e.g.; galactogram, stereotactic breast biopsy, et cetera). All work performed will be in compliance with Federal (MQSA) and State (Texas Department of State Health Services) regulations as well as with ACR guidelines.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:

1. Education: One of the following:

A. Certificate of training from a Radiologic Technology Program

B. Associates of Science or higher in Radiologic Technology

2. Experience: none required

3. Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).

4. Preferred: Previous experience in the hospital role

Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:

1. American Registry of Radiologic Technologist ARRT (M) certification

2. Medical Radiologic Technologist Certification from Texas Department of Health

What you will do in this Role:

1. Responsible for the proper positioning and obtaining necessary views and compression for Mammography, label mammograms performed as required by ACR and documents breast exam findings, history, and previous films if any.

2. Responsible for the proper use of computer system (scheduling exams, patient tracking, film tracking, proper completion of exams, capture charges).

3. Must be able to complete assignments independently and to work as part of a team; to take instructions from supervisors; to exercise problem‑solving skills; and to interact with co‑workers, supervisors, patients, vendors and the public in a professional and pleasant manner.

4. Must insure that all necessary paperwork for patient contact before and after examinations is completed properly, mailed and tracked

5. Will demonstrate the ability to assess a situation considers alternatives and chooses an appropriate course of action.

6. Coordinate the test and treatment of each patient with the appropriate personnel, i.e. Surgeon, Radiologist, Attending Physician, Laboratory. etc.

Additional Job Roles:

1. May have access to radiopharmaceuticals, contrast agents and other non-controlled medications as appropriate to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

2. Will take "CALL" as necessary on a rotational basis.

3. Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System and demonstrates excellent customer service at all times.

4. Understands and is committed to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals.

5. Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.

6. Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations or the Code of Conduct itself.

7. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to adolescent, geriatric and adult patients

8. Completes other duties as assigned.

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
