Overview

Under the supervision of the Diagnostic Radiology / Breast Imaging Manager and/or Assistant Chief Technologist, performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce quality mammography images for interpretation by radiologists. All duties are performed according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures. Promotes service excellence in all interactions as outlined in the Key Behaviors in the YNHH Core Success Factors. To meet staffing needs, Diagnostic Radiology staff may be assigned at any YNHH Diagnostic Radiology location, regardless of their regular work location.

Responsibilities
  1. Performs quality and efficient mammographic examinations, utilizing appropriate age-specific standards, to provide images for interpretation by radiologists and viewing by referring physicians.
  2. Operates mammographic and computer equipment to ensure proper technical results, adhering to ACR and FDA/MQSA guidelines and policies.
  3. Prepares examination rooms to provide a clean and safe environment for patients, ensuring cleanliness and adequate supplies.
  4. Provides quality and compassionate patient care, explaining procedures to ensure patient comfort and cooperation, aiming for zero patient complaints annually.
  5. Exhibits teamwork and professionalism in interactions with co-workers, supervisors, and physicians.
  6. Participates in ongoing learning activities to meet all ACR, FDA/MQSA, State, and ARRT guidelines.
  7. Achieves patient satisfaction scores set by the department, demonstrating friendliness, clear communication, and addressing comfort issues.
Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an A.M.A. approved Radiologic Technology program. AS degree preferred.

Experience: Demonstrated technical skills to meet entry level standards of routine mammography.

Licensure: RT (R,M) required. CT State License required. CPR certification preferred.

Special Skills: Proficiency in routine breast imaging and screening mammography, good computer/PACS skills, and strong organizational and customer service skills.

Physical Demands: Ability to lift 25 pounds. Must operate a motor vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of 18,001 lbs. or more, complying with DOT regulations, including passing required tests and maintaining necessary documentation.
