Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to perform diagnostic ultrasound under supervision of a radiologist and assist in data collection for diagnostic decisions. The role emphasizes patient-centered ultrasound services and accurate data gathering.

Job Description

Under the supervision of a radiologist, to provide patient services using diagnostic ultrasound for the use and interpretation of ultrasound procedures. To assist the radiologist in gathering sonographic data necessary to reach diagnostic decisions.

Qualifications

Associate's degree from an approved school of Radiologic Technology and/or Sonography. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Must be registry eligible in Breast Sonography or as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with ARDMS or ARRT. Registry eligible individuals must pass certification exam within one (1) year of the date of hire. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
