Job summary

The Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University seeks a Reverse Engineer Researcher for the Threat Analysis directorate. You will reverse engineer malware, develop analysis tools, and contribute to high-impact defense projects while collaborating with government, industry, and academia.

Required education includes BS, MS, or PhD in CS or related fields with substantial relevant experience, plus strong analytical and communication skills and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related discipline with eight (8) years of experience; OR MS with five (5) years; OR PhD with two (2) years.

Responsibilities

• Reverse engineer malicious code and develop new analysis methods and tools.
• Perform in-depth reverse engineering of malware and document results in reports and presentations.
• Explore AI applications to support reverse engineering and malware analysis.
• Design, prototype, and transition new analysis methods and tools.
• Identify and document emerging and complex active security threats.
• Participate in the broader security community through collaboration and papers.
