Job summary

Mercor seeks native Malayalam speakers to annotate and transcribe Malayalam documents for a data-annotation project. You will identify and bound meaningful regions, ensure correct reading order, and provide faithful Malayalam transcriptions across diverse layouts.

You will also capture page metadata and participate in peer reviews to ensure accuracy and consistency for multilingual NLP training data.

Qualifications

• Native Malayalam speaker with full command of the script and orthography.
• Experience with document annotation, transcription, localization, subtitling, proofreading, or QA is preferred.
• Character-level accuracy matters; avoid diacritic errors.
• Must apply a consistent taxonomy across many pages.
• Comfortable with multi-column layouts and handwritten content.

Responsibilities

• Open and verify pages are Malayalam, legible, and free of personal details.
• Annotate structure by bounding regions and assigning component types and reading order.
• Record relationships by linking regions to their parent tables/figures.
• Transcribe faithfully, preserving Malayalam script exactly.
• Capture metadata: language, document type, source, page size, and flags.
• Participate in peer review to ensure quality in the first pass.
