Job summary

Canada’s Wonderland is seeking a Seasonal Special Effects Makeup Artist to join our Entertainment team. You’ll transform performers with prosthetics, airbrush makeup, and FX to create immersive, show-ready characters during Fright Fest.

This fast-paced role requires 2-3 years FX makeup experience, strong communication, and the ability to work Fridays–Sundays from Sept 1 to Nov 1, 2026. Pay is $15.50 per hour with exclusive employee perks.

Qualifications

  • Must have 2-3 years FX makeup artist experience.
  • Work efficiently in a very fast-paced environment.
  • Must troubleshoot and quickly clean airbrush equipment on the spot.
  • Possess above average communication skills.
  • Be safety conscious and able to work flexible hours, weekends, nights and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that characters are made up quickly while providing a quality product.
  • Daily use and maintenance of airbrush equipment.
  • Apply foam latex prosthetics, and FX, theatrical, fantasy, character makeup.
  • Perform individually or in a group setting.
  • Troubleshoot and address issues to ensure show quality and approved looks.
  • Clean worn masks and store them properly at night.
  • Maintain equipment, supplies and cleanliness of workstation and area.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Using special effects makeup, prosthetics, and artistic talent, you'll transform performers into unforgettable characters that amaze, thrill, and entertain our guests. In this dynamic role, you'll help create immersive experiences while ensuring every performer is show-ready.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that characters are made up quickly while providing a quality product
  • Daily use and maintenance of Airbrush
  • Apply foam latex prosthetics, and FX, theatrical, fantasy, character make-up
  • Perform individually or in a group setting
  • Troubleshoot and address issues such as Make- Application, Touchups, Removals to ensure show quality and Approved Designed looks
  • Clean worn masks and put them in their proper place at the end of the night
  • Maintain equipment, supplies and cleanliness of workstation and area
  • Other duties as assigned by Management

Payrate: $15.50/hr.

Availability Requirement

Must be able to work all operating days (Fridays–Sundays) from September 1, 2026, through November 1, 2026.

Due to the limited operating season of Fright Fest, applicants are required to disclose any scheduling conflicts occurring between August and November during the interview process.

Qualifications
  • Must have 2-3 years FX make-up artist experience

  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot and quickly clean airbrush equipment on the spot

  • Attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Be safety conscious, while also outgoing with a friendly demeanor
  • Must have the ability to airbrush and apply prosthetics in a fast-paced manner.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Communicate effectively in the English language, including the ability to read, speak, and understand the English language
  • Be available to work flexible hours, weekends, nights, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
  • Continued standing and bending
  • Eye/hand coordination, near vision, hearing, and speech. Manual dexterity, gross motor skills, and color definition
  • Stand/walk for up to 6 hours at a time and as many as 10 hours a day; walk over 3 miles per day over various surfaces
