Parenting for Non-Violence (P4NV) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering families and building stronger communities through non-violent parenting education and family life skills support. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Major Gifts Officer / Grant Researcher and Writer to play a dual role in expanding our funding base through grants and major donor engagement.
This part-time position is perfect for someone with exceptional writing skills, strategic fundraising experience, and a passion for helping families thrive.
Key Responsibilities
1. Major Gifts Strategy and Donor Engagement
- Identify and Cultivate Major Donors: Research and develop a portfolio of prospective individual donors capable of making significant contributions ($5,000+).
- Build Relationships: Cultivate and steward philanthropic relationships through personalized communications, donor meetings, calls, and engagement events.
- Solicit Contributions: Create compelling donor request for proposals (RFPs) and personalized ask strategies aligned with P4NV’s mission and programs.
- Donor Stewardship: Manage donor recognition and retention activities.
- Board Engagement: Work with P4NV board members to leverage their philanthropic networks for donor engagement and fundraising campaigns.
- Collaborative Engagement: Work with P4NV executive director, board members and key staff to develop project plans and budgets that align with grant requirements.
2. Grant Research and Prospecting
- Identify and assess potential grant funding opportunities from local, state, federal, and private sources.
- Research foundation and corporate funders whose priorities align with P4NV’s mission.
- Maintain a funding calendar with deadlines for applications, reports, and renewals.
3. Grant Proposal Writing and Submission
- Write and submit clear, persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports.
- Collaborate with the fundraising and program teams to gather program data, budgets, and outcomes.
- Ensure all submitted RFPs adhere to funder guidelines and deadlines.
4. Grant and Donor Reporting
- Track grant deliverables, reporting timelines, and donor touchpoints.
- Prepare progress and final reports for funders, particularly for government or restricted grants.
- Maintain donor and grant information in a centralized system.
- Prepare and present quarterly reports to P4NV Board.
5. Strategic Fundraising Planning
- Contribute to the development of annual fundraising strategies and revenue goals.
- Analyze donor trends and grant success rates to inform future development efforts.
- Monitor philanthropic trends in family services, child development, and social services.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required in relevant related fields i.e. business, public administration, finance etc.
- 3–5 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, and/or major gift development for nonprofits in the areas of education, family and social services.
- Demonstrated success in securing major gifts and grant funding, with references.
- Experience in donor database and CRM platforms is highly desirable.

- Exceptional writing and storytelling abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong research skills with an understanding of funder priorities and giving landscapes.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and fundraising platforms.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines and donor relationships simultaneously.
