Job summary

The University of Minnesota Foundation (UMF) seeks a Development Officer for the University of Minnesota Duluth to drive major gifts and donor engagement. You will work under the Associate Vice President, Philanthropy for UMD, cultivating fundable initiatives and leading blended portfolios across units.

You will collaborate with the development team to meet philanthropic goals, track donor interactions, and report progress, traveling as needed to engage prospects and donors effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of fundraising or related experience.
• Ability to lead with an entrepreneurial spirit, constantly pursuing solutions and effective/efficient enhancements.
• Skills in high-standard accountability paired with empathetic mentorship
• Deep understanding of goal-setting frameworks and performance metrics.
• Ability to maintain a growth mindset in all deliverables.
• Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Engage in face-to-face donor work to advance gift conversations and donor experiences.
• Manage and cultivate a major gift portfolio through outreach and relationships.
• Act as philanthropic advisor to translate academic priorities into fundable initiatives.
• Develop blended portfolios and break down silos to create big idea opportunities.
• Support fundraising initiatives with alignment to UMF standards and strategy.
• Collaborate with colleagues on donor strategies and maintain timely reports.
