The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Major Gifts Specialist is a member of WWP’s fundraising team. The Major Gifts Specialist steward a portfolio of major gift donors and new prospects. They identify, cultivate, and solicit high net worth individuals through ongoing personal contact, emphasizing in-person meetings and cultivation events. They share in the financial goal of the Major Gifts team and are responsible for generating revenue from various channels such as cash, stock gifts, and deferred gifts.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Drive the growth of a portfolio of major and prospective donors.
  2. Articulate effectively, verbally and in writing, WWP’s history, mission, vision, and programs to potential funding sources.
  3. Ensure portfolio is properly balanced for effective moves management.
  4. Track communications within Salesforce CRM to prioritize relationship-based fundraising strategies.
  5. Represent WWP and speak to community audiences, organizations, and donors.
  6. Travel to meet with existing and prospective donors to support program objectives.
  7. Establish effective working relationships and collaborate with WWP teammates across the organization, including Communications, Marketing, Programs, and Resource Development teams.
  8. Provide monthly and quarterly revenue projections and forecasts for the portfolio.
  9. Develop appropriate cultivation strategies.
  10. Move potential donors toward solicitation and closure in a timely manner.
  11. Create personalized donor communications such as proposals, stewardship reports, and updates.
  12. Utilize wealth screening, research, and networks to identify prospective major donors.
  13. Attend and participate in required training and meetings.
  14. Other related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE

Requirements

  • Five years of fundraising or sales experience.
  • Five years of experience in major donor cultivation and stewardship.
  • Two years of experience with Salesforce or similar CRM.

Preferences

  • Three years of experience in non-profit organizations.
EDUCATION

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURE

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Office environment; temperature-controlled.
  • May participate in events under varying weather conditions.
  • Up to 75% travel (local and regional).
  • May require lifting up to 50 pounds.
