Job summary

Evangel University seeks a Major Gift Officer to build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, guiding them through identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship in support of the university’s mission.

You will collaborate with university leaders, travel regularly, develop compelling proposals, document activities in the CRM, and report portfolio performance while upholding Evangel's values and integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred.
• Three or more years of fundraising, development, sales, relationship management, or related experience.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and secure significant gifts.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
• Ability to work effectively with university leaders, faculty, staff, volunteers, alumni, and donors.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement.
• Experience with CRM systems preferred.
• Willingness to travel regularly.
• Strong integrity, accountability, and commitment to Evangel University's mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the President and Advancement leadership on key donor relationships and solicitations.
• Collaborate with academic, athletic, ministry, and administrative leaders to develop funding opportunities.
• Maintain accurate donor activity, strategies, proposals, and outcomes in the CRM.
• Meet established fundraising and activity goals and provide regular reports on portfolio performance.
• Provide effective stewardship and follow-up to strengthen long-term donor relationships.

JOB TITLE:Major Gift Officer

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Major Gift Officer develops and manages relationships with prospective and current donors to secure major gifts in support of Evangel University’s mission and priorities. The position manages a portfolio of donors through identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship and works closely with the President, Director of Development, and other university leaders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Build meaningful donor relationships through personal visits, calls, correspondence, and events.
• Develop proposals, gift opportunities, and solicitation strategies in collaboration with university leaders.
• Conduct solicitations and work to secure, close, and document major gifts.
• Partner with the President and Advancement leadership on key donor relationships and solicitations.

• Follow Evangel's gift acceptance policies and procedures.
• Represent Evangel professionally with donors, alumni, parents, churches, foundations, corporations, and other constituents.

Advancement Support

• Collaborate with Advancement staff on prospect management, moves management, campaigns, and special initiatives.
• Participate in prospect strategy and portfolio review meetings.
• Support Advancement events and donor engagement activities.
• Pursue professional development to strengthen fundraising knowledge and skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
