Job summary

IDEA (Islamic Development & Empowerment in America) is seeking a Major Gifts Officer based in Michigan to manage relationships with major donors and drive revenue growth. You will identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors through personalized engagement, meetings, proposals, and strategic outreach.

You will collaborate with regional staff and leadership to grow the major gifts pipeline, coordinate events, and provide timely stewardship and impact reporting to donors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; CFRE certification is preferred.
• 5 years fundraising experience for nonprofit organizations.
• Experience with high net-worth individuals and portfolios.
• Strong written and verbal communications.
• Ability to travel within the region and to national events.
• Experience in donor identification, solicitation, and stewardship.

Responsibilities

• Manages a portfolio of major donors and qualified prospects.
• Develops strategies for the identification of new donors, and for the cultivation and stewardship of current donors through personalized outreach initiatives.
• Implements fundraising strategies from individuals through major gift campaigns, personal cultivation/solicitation, planned giving vehicles and events.
• Contributes to major-gifts strategy and develops individualized engagement plans for assigned donors and prospects in coordination with the Regional Manager and Fund Development leadership.
• Develops and manages the major gifts annual operational and revenue plans with the regional team’s annual plan.
• Coordinates and liaises with other Fund Development team members and leadership regarding donor cultivation events and briefings.
• Contacts and meets with prospective and current donors through personal or virtual visits, spending ~50% time with active and prospective donors.
• Participates in and assists with regional development strategy and community outreach.
• Liaises with consultants and external contacts to progress corporate giving strategies.
• Works with executive management to ensure major donors are acknowledged and receive impact reporting.
• Writes and edits proposals, reports, acknowledgments, and letters to donors.
• Maintains accurate records of all donor-related activities and notes.
• Maintain familiarity with IDEA’s campaigns, programs, and humanitarian issues.
• Represents IDEA at donor meetings, community events, and fundraising activities.
