Job summary

Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine seeks an Assistant Director of Development to lead major gift fundraising. You will manage a portfolio of approximately 70 major donor prospects, average 12–15 strategic visits per month, and coordinate moves management with the college and University Advancement.

Regular in-state travel is required; additional out-of-state travel is expected quarterly.

Qualifications

• Knowledge equivalent to completing a four-year college degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing and/or Business.
• One to three years of related and progressively responsible work experience in professional fundraising or public relations.
• Must have a valid driver’s license; travel required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build strong, engaged relationships with major gift prospects to align priorities with MSU/CVM funding opportunities.
• Manage a portfolio of approximately 70 prospect(s) and engage in fundraising strategies and solicitations of $50,000+.
• Develop a yearly strategic fundraising plan and coordinate moves management with CVM and University Advancement.
• Engage 12–15 major prospects through visits to progress toward major gifts closures.
