Job summary

American International College in Springfield, MA seeks a Major Gift Officer to partner with the Advancement team, faculty, and college leadership to grow philanthropy with alumni and friends. The MGO’s portfolio will concentrate on undergraduate, graduate alumni, and friends of AIC.

Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the MGO will cultivate donor relationships, plan solicitation strategies, and help secure leadership gifts to advance the college’s strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 3–5 years in institutional advancement or fundraising.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently and work non-standard hours.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of 100–150 major gift prospects and donors; meet solicitation and revenue goals.
  • Develop comprehensive solicitation strategies with campus partners to identify new high-level prospects.
  • Participate in stewardship of assigned donors; communicate gift impact and engage stakeholders.
  • Lead preparation of proposals and gift agreements; articulate fundraising priorities.
  • Develop knowledge of AIC's culture, programs, and fundraising priorities.

Major Gift Officer

American International College seeks a Major Gift Officer to partner with the Advancement team, faculty, and college leadership to grow the culture of philanthropy with alumni and friends. The MGO’s portfolio will concentrate on undergraduate, graduate alumni, and friends of AIC. Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the MGO will cultivate donor relationships and engage alumni to increase overall financial support for AIC. The ideal candidate is committed to a donor-centered approach to cultivating and soliciting major gifts in support of AIC’s strategic initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of 100-150 major gift prospects and donors, meeting expectations for annually articulated solicitation and revenue goals. Effectively and efficiently move prospects through the donor pipeline to successfully close major gifts. Create opportunities to conduct a minimum of 100 substantive interactions annually, involving institutional leadership, faculty, and high-level volunteers, when appropriate, to efficiently cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership gift prospects and donors. (80%)
  • Partner with colleagues across the Institute to create comprehensive solicitation strategies that support mutually shared goals and lead to the identification of new high-level prospects. (5%)
  • Participate in appropriate and effective stewardship of assigned donors, communicating gift impact and continually connecting donors to college initiatives of interest. Collaborate with Advancement colleagues to ensure that managed prospects are receiving appropriate levels of stewardship and engagement. Take the lead in preparing proposals and gift agreements. (5%)
  • Develop and articulate a deep knowledge of AIC's culture and history, its fundraising priorities, academic, extra-curricular, and athletic programs. (5%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Institutional Advancement. (5%)
Required Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree with three to five years of experience in institutional advancement or fundraising with a demonstrated record of success.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively and possess strong verbal and writing skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently and work non-standard hours as needed.
