Job description

Established award-winning restaurant group in Charleston, SC is interviewing for a Maître D' / Manager position at their flagship restaurant FIG (Food Is Good).

FIG is credited with championing the local food movement. We are committed to our family of purveyors whose products are the driving force and inspiration for our work. Paying respect to their efforts and traditions is essential to our mission.

However, the FIG experience is about more than just food. A sincere effort to educate our staff on all aspects of food and beverage culture is the basis for our service philosophy. It is our goal that guests feel special, comfortable and well taken care of. Once a humble corner bistro, FIG has since garnered three James Beard Foundation Awards becoming one of the top dining destinations in the Southeast.

As for the position and responsibilities, we’ll be looking to you to identify your strengths and weaknesses in a leadership role. Your focus will be a combination of your desired interests in hospitality and the needs within our current management team. We like to think of our industry as constantly operating in the “grey space” where things are ever changing and adapting, and we’re looking for someone who thrives in a flux environment. All experience levels are welcome!

What we expect from you:

  • Genuine respect and love for hospitality and connecting with people
  • Strive to exceed guest expectations nightly
  • Commitment to on-going education and growth, both professionally and personally
  • Passion for community and a work culture that supports sustainability and a local network of purveyors
  • Strong knowledge of the food and beverage world
  • Professional, polished, dependable, and focused
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Respectful and kind towards co-workers of all levels
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ambitious and self-motivated
  • Full time flexibility and availability

What you can expect from us:

  • Independently owned and operated business with hands-on approach
  • A positive, supportive, and inclusive work environment
  • Stability and strong communication
  • Professional co-workers and management teams dedicated to your success
  • Genuine enthusiasm for sustainability and community
  • Hands on learning with a thoughtful and diverse menu and beverage program
  • Upward mobility and growth opportunities
