Position: Maitre D’

Department: Food & Beverage

Reports To: Restaurant Manager

Job Overview: The Maitre D’ at The Ben, Autograph Collection Hotel, plays a pivotal role in creating an unforgettable dining experience. As the face of the restaurant, the Maitre D’ warmly welcomes guests, manages seating, and oversees the flow of service to ensure a smooth, memorable dining experience. This role is responsible for overseeing guest relations, managing reservations, supervising the front-of-house team, and ensuring service standards are upheld.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guest Relations: Provide a warm and professional welcome, escort guests to their tables, and ensure VIPs and regulars receive personalized attention. Address guest feedback promptly and professionally.
  • Reservation and Seating Management: Manage reservations efficiently to optimize seating and maximize table turnover. Use the reservation system to track guest preferences, special occasions, and any specific needs.
  • Front-of-House Leadership: Oversee and support the host and service teams to ensure consistent, high-quality service. Conduct pre-shift meetings to review reservations, VIPs, and service standards, and coordinate with the kitchen and bar teams.
  • Service Quality Control: Monitor dining room appearance, table settings, and ambiance. Resolve service issues as they arise, ensuring every guest has an exceptional experience.
  • Training and Development: Assist in training new team members on service standards, guest relations, and reservation procedures. Provide ongoing support and mentorship to front-of-house staff.
  • Organization and Cleanliness: Ensure the dining area, host station, and waiting areas are organized, clean, and welcoming at all times.
  • Perform Other Duties as Assigned: Flexibly support other front-of-house operations and assist the management team as needed to ensure smooth service.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years in a fine-dining or upscale restaurant setting, with experience in guest relations and team leadership.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in reservation and POS systems (e.g., OpenTable, MICROS).
  • Attributes:
    • Passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
    • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong sense of teamwork, professionalism, and leadership.
Working Conditions
  • Schedule: Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
