Description

The purpose of this position is to maintain water distribution systems and assist in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants, towers, and reservoirs for the Village of Fox Crossing Utilities. The work is performed under the direction of the Utility Superintendent.

Actual Pay Rate Depends On Qualifications.

Examples of Duties

• Perform maintenance and repair of water mains, water services, meters, fire hydrants, valves, reservoirs, towers, salt and brine tanks, and assist with plumbing and building maintenance at water treatment facilities.
• Collect water samples, test water quality, locate leaks, and install new water service laterals.
• Assist customers with water quality or plumbing complaints.
• Maintain vehicles, equipment, pumps, and generators.
• Locate mains and laterals, prepare maps, and read water meters.
• Operate heavy equipment and trucks; restore roads after water main breaks.
• Perform grounds maintenance, snow and ice removal, and landscape tasks.
• Assist wastewater department with collection systems, lift stations, and hydro excavating.
• Conduct residential cross connection inspections.
• Operate GPS equipment for mapping.
• Maintain on-call availability for emergencies, with a response time of 30 minutes or less.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform clerical and maintenance duties as needed.
• Assist the Street Department with snow plowing during emergencies.

Minimum Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, with 2-3 years of experience in plumbing, mechanics, construction, or related trades, or equivalent education and experience.
• DNR Groundwater Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• DNR Water Distribution Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• DNR Zeolite Softening Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Confined Space Entry Training.
• Valid Wisconsin commercial driver’s license or ability to obtain within 1 year.
