Job summary

The City of Oxnard's Public Works Department, Environmental Resources Division, seeks dependable Maintenance Worker Trainees (Swamper/Container Repair) to support refuse and recycling collection operations. You will assist crews, repair containers, and help ensure safe, efficient collection and disposal for residents and businesses.

Responsibilities include assisting with routes, reporting issues, maintaining equipment, and performing other collection-related duties.

Qualifications

• Two years of maintenance experience related to assignment.
• Ability to operate and maintain basic maintenance tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist collection truck drivers with residential and commercial routes.
• Collect, move, and return waste and recycling containers.
• Safely mount and dismount collection vehicles per safety procedures.
• Identify and report service issues and hazards on routes.
• Support with special collections and proper disposal of materials.
• Provide courteous service to residents and businesses.
