Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee (BRC) is seeking a full-time building maintenance worker to perform carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical repairs across our NYC facilities. You will help maintain light and plumbing fixtures, replace sheetrock and doors, and manage deliveries while assisting with inspections and safety drills.

With a focus on servicing a community in need, you will join a team committed to health, safety, and a clean environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years consecutive experience in building maintenance.
  • Trade school/training certifications, High School diploma or GED a plus.
  • Vaccination preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Repair carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical issues.
  • Maintain light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, and replace sheetrock/plastering/painting walls.
  • Repair exit/office/bathroom doors and replace ceiling/floor tiles.
  • Receive and store deliveries of maintenance/office supplies; move furniture as needed.
  • Assist with facility inspections and fire drills; keep interior and exterior areas clean.
  • Support snow removal, power washing, and trash removal as needed.

Job description

Duties/Responsibilities

Make repairs requiring skills such as carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical. Responsible for maintenance of light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, replacing sheetrock/plastering/painting walls, repair exit/office/bathroom doors and replacing ceiling/floor tiles. Receive and store deliveries of maintenance/office supplies. Build and move furniture as needed. Participate in preparation for facility inspections and fire drills. Assist with maintaining cleanliness of interior and exterior of facility including trash removal, power washing and snow removal. Related duties as assigned.

Hours

Full-time 37.5 hours per week

  • Saturday-Wednesday 3:00pm-11:30pm
Qualifications

Minimum of three years consecutive experience in building maintenance and/or experience in skills mentioned above is required. Trade school/training certifications, High School diploma or GED a plus.

  • Vaccination preferred but not required.
