The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Worker to perform semi-skilled and skilled work in the construction, maintenance, repair, custodial and related activities pertaining to building maintenance, parks, solid waste, streets, stormwater maintenance and operations, and transit; to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
  1. Clean, maintain, and repair equipment, roads, alleyways, right-of-ways, streets, open spaces, City cemeteries, parking lots, curbs, sidewalks, and other City facilities.
  2. Perform street construction and maintenance activities; dig and maintain ditches; backfill trenches and holes; install storm drainage pipes; participate in curb and sidewalk projects; repair and replace brick pavers.
  3. Perform grounds maintenance activities including the mowing of lawns, routine landscaping, and hauling debris and trash.
  4. Prepare ball fields for use, participate in playground installation and maintenance; repair and maintain landscape areas in and around work sites.
  5. Perform janitorial functions and similar duties in assigned area, load and unload trucks.
  6. Set up and take down construction site signage and barricades for traffic control; follow safety regulations.
  7. Participate in activities required during seasonal weather events.
  8. Operate and maintain a variety of construction and street maintenance equipment, gardening equipment; and a variety of hand tools; ensure security of equipment.
  9. Maintain garbage, yard waste and recycling carts; collect recyclable material; build, deliver, and collect carts from City facilities, residents and other locations as needed.
  10. Operate pressure washer and battery operated street sweeper; pick up and deliver vehicles and parts; perform minor repairs to furniture and fixtures.

Experience:
Six months of experience performing field maintenance work within the assigned area of work.

Training:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.

None.

From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks. The processwill consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background check and driving history check.
