Job summary

Lindentx in Heath, TX is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of tasks maintaining parks, open spaces, and related facilities. You will assist with irrigation, minor repairs, and cleaning, and support water/sewer duties as needed.

The role requires high school diploma and at least one year related experience; a valid Texas Class C driver's license is required, with Class B CDL preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduation plus one year of related experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
• Valid Class C Texas driver's license required; Class B CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains all parks and recreation facilities, equipment, amenities, and grounds, including sports fields, courts, and playgrounds.
• Performs minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete work, painting, and landscaping.
• Assists in performing tree-care maintenance in parks, open spaces, along trails, and in other City properties as needed.
• Calibrates and maintains irrigation sprinklers.
• Collects and disposes of litter and debris.
• Cleans restrooms, common areas, and seating areas, within park and recreation facilities as needed.
• Assists in performing turf maintenance in and around streets, parks, trails, and facilities.
• Set up and break down for special and recreation events as needed.
• Responds to emergency calls during and after regular work hours.
• Fulfills daily maintenance call requests/requirements from City staff.

Job description

To perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance and operation of grounds, open spaces, parks, and related facilities. Also, assists with water, sewer, street, drainage and facilities related activities when necessary.

Organizational Relationships:

1. Reports to: Parks and Recreation Manager

2. Directs: This is a non-supervisory position.

3. Other: Has some contact with other city employees and the general public.

Essential Job Functions & Duties

Maintains all parks and recreation facilities, equipment, amenities, and grounds, including sports fields, courts, and playgrounds.
Performs minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete work, painting, and landscaping.
Assists in performing tree-care maintenance in parks, open spaces, along trails, and in other City properties as needed.
Calibrates and maintains irrigation sprinklers.

Knowledge of:

Maintenance Principles: processes involved in upkeep of parks property and equipment to the optimum state of cleanliness, repair, and efficiency.

Vegetation: characteristics and upkeep requirements of turf, trees, and plants used in municipal parks and landscaping.

Basic Math: add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly.

Skill/Ability to:

Cooperation: establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Accuracy: attention to detail in dealing with numbers, words, and ideas.

Mechanical/Technical: safely operating diverse lawn and landscaping equipment, including mowers, tractors, chainsaw, edger, weed trimmers, electric motors, pumps, sprinklers; miscellaneous hand and power tools for turf maintenance, carpentry, painting and cement finishing work.

Oral Comprehension: listening to and understanding information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

Sequencing: correctly following a given rule or set of rules to arrange things or actions. Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Oral Expression: communicating information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

Education and Experience:

High school graduation plus one year of related experience.

Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications and Licenses Required:

Appropriate, valid class "C" commercial Texas driver's license. Class "B" CDL preferred.
