Gfoat is seeking a manual laborer to perform duties within assigned divisions, including maintenance, parks, landscapes, playgrounds, facilities, events, and construction projects.
Role requires basic reading/writing, math, and geographic knowledge of the city; CDL or non-CDL status affects testing requirements. Flexibility for schedule and stand-by duties may apply.
The purpose of this position is to perform manual labor within assigned division. Depending on area of assignment may be responsible for maintenance and parks, landscaped grounds, playgrounds, facilities, special events, and/or construction projects.
Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. 8th grade education and 5 years experience required in a similar field, OR high school diploma or GED equivalency
Over one year up to and including three years of experience is preferred.
Work requires regular interaction involving exchange and receipt of information.
This position normally performs the duty assignment after receiving detailed instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results with little room for deviation. The immediate supervisor may, at times, provide close and constant review.
Work requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization.
Basic ability to recognize meaning of common two or three syllable words and to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or a series of numbers, names, and addresses. Intermediate ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement.
Ability to learn geography of City including major streets and landmarks.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, holidays and weekends as needed. Subject to "stand by" duty.
CDL applicants - This position is classified as a DOT position and is subject to drug and alcohol testing, ongoing driver record checks, and is subject to all U.S. DOT regulations during the course of employment.
Non CDL applicants -This position is classified as a safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing during the course of employment.
Must possess a valid Texas class "C" driver's license or higher with good driving record and ability to maintain while employed.
