Maintenance Worker - Omni Center (Seasonal/Limited Term)

Position Overview

The City of Onalaska is seeking to hire a Maintenance Worker for a Limited Term Employment position. The scheduled hours vary for each event and may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. The employee will be responsible for building maintenance and event support, working under established guidelines and supervision from the Buildings Supervisor.

Compensation

Wage range: $11.00/hr - $14.00/hr, based on skills and experience. This is a seasonal position with no benefits. Flexible scheduling is available.

Essential Job Functions
  • Set up and takedown equipment for events, restoring the building to its original condition.
  • Enforce Omni Center rules to ensure public safety.
  • Identify and report issues related to the building, equipment, or supplies.
  • Assist in ice maintenance tasks such as resurfacing, flooding, and patching.
  • Perform general building maintenance including cleaning, restocking, floor care, window cleaning, and outside maintenance.
  • Open and secure the building during events and at night.
  • Ensure customer needs are met and address concerns during events.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the building and grounds.
  • Maintain professionalism and effective communication with the public and staff; approach problems calmly and promote harmony.
  • Perform other job-related duties as needed or assigned.
Minimum Requirements

Minimum age of 16, with good oral and written communication skills. No additional benefits are provided for this limited-term position. The work environment involves various physical and safety considerations as detailed in the full job description.
