Duties
- Performs minor grounds maintenance, including ensuring entrances and exits are free from debris, sidewalks are clear of ice/snow, and surfaces under playground structures are maintained according to safety requirements.
- Possesses the skills and knowledge to perform various tasks involved in the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and related structures, fixtures, and utilities.
- Ensures children and youth know how to safely evacuate the bus. Practices bus evacuation following prescribed procedures monthly. Documents all drills in writing.
- Responsible for notifying the supervisor of hazards, malfunctioning equipment, damaged materials, or other situations that may impact work operations.
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, including driving in all weather conditions within a controlled traffic environment on a military installation. Exposure to dirt, fumes, and potential cuts in a kitchen setting is possible.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old at the time of appointment.
- Must have a valid Social Security Card and direct deposit information.
- Meet qualification, eligibility, and physical/background requirements.
- Current health assessment showing good mental and physical health, immunity from communicable diseases, and up-to-date immunizations per Army and DoD policy, including annual influenza vaccinations.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Successful completion of annual training and demonstrated on-the-job competence.
- Pass employment verification (E-Verify).
- Work schedule includes irregular hours, evenings, and weekends, outdoors and indoors under various weather conditions.
- Physical effort includes reaching, bending, lifting (up to 40 pounds frequently, heavier with assistance), and moving objects.
- Mandatory drug testing is required.
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks, including a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation, in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English to perform duties safely and satisfactorily.
- Experience in performing duties similar to those described.
- Valid state driver's license required, with specific requirements depending on vehicle operated (standard driver's license for a 15-passenger vehicle or CDL for a 24-passenger vehicle).
