The Fairfield Civil Service Commission is conducting an open competitive exam to establish an eligibility list for the position of Maintenance Worker/Laborer for the City of Fairfield on July 28, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Arts Center located at 411 Wessel Drive, Fairfield, OH 45014.
Responsibilities for Maintenance Worker-Laborer include: performing a variety of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled tasks relating to the maintenance and repair of city facilities and equipment, streets, sewers, traffic control systems, parks, utilities, recreation areas and other City-owned property.
Applicants must be: minimum 18 years of age; have one (1) year work experience; familiar with methods, materials and equipment used in these types of work; able to follow written and oral instructions; able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates; able to perform the essential functions of these positions; willing to work various shifts; possess valid Driver’s License. Scope of the written exam will be multiple choice questions covering basic knowledge and knowledge of skills necessary to perform the duties of this position. A passing grade of 70% must be achieved to be included on eligibility list.

In the event of a tie score on the written exam, priority in ranking is determined by the date and time the application is received.
