Job Description: Water and Sewer Maintenance Worker

Safety/Security Sensitive Designation: This is a safety/security sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees, especially team members, and ensure regular and reliable attendance.
- Gather supplies and equipment for job assignments, fix water and sewer leaks, and ensure maintenance of trucks and equipment.
- Install water and sewer mains and taps as needed.
- Repair water and sewer leaks.
- Be on call 24/7, including holidays, on a scheduled rotation basis.
- Maintain trucks and equipment for service, cleanliness, and safety, and ensure tools are in good condition.
- Check oil and fuel levels in trucks and equipment.
- Operate heavy machinery such as backhoes and dump trucks as required.
- Perform manual labor tasks, including digging and trenching.
- Follow all water and sewer regulations to protect public health and safety.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED, with at least six months of related experience.
- Valid driver's license; ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement within six months.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and emergencies as needed.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical and regulatory information.
- Proficiency with heavy and light equipment, hand tools, and safety gear is preferred.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally, with good vision and physical dexterity.
- Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, chemicals, weather, and mechanical hazards.
