The City of Norfolk's Department of Utilities is seeking qualified candidates for a Maintenance Worker II in our Wastewater Division. The Maintenance Worker II is needed to perform general labor duties to include the maintenance of equipment, fueling equipment, unloading materials, and digging.
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines. Level of knowledge equivalent to high school or equivalency.
One year as a Maintenance Worker, or successful completion of the Operations Apprentice program based on assignment.
The preferred candidate will possess one year experience of maintenance repair.
Valid driver's license required.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Work Locations: 1316 Ballentine Boulevard, Norfolk, Virginia.
This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus.
This is an 'Essential' position which means you may be required to work nights, weekends, rotating shifts, holidays, etc. in response to severe weather events and emergencies.
